Newburgh won their second league match in the bounce last night at East Shore park in a hard fought encounter with Rosyth.
Newburgh took the lead in the 4th minute with Aidan Edwards meeting a perfectly placed Gordon Clark cross field ball at the back post. The Burgh forward powered his header into the roof of the net to give Newburgh a perfect start.
The lead was doubled almost immediately when Scott Sutherland picked up on a slack pass across the defence to drive in on goal and lift a shot wide of the keeper into the net.
Newburgh had the ball in the net again on the 10th minute when Craig Robinson looked to beat the advancing defensive line only to be called back by the ref for offside.
Rosyth got into the game and created several chances that Calum Sutherland was a match for in the ‘Burgh goal pulling off several top class saves to keep the visitors at bay.
The second half was barely two minutes old when Rosyth grabbed the all importance third goal of the game. A goalmouth scramble where Newburgh could not clear their lines allowing Keith in to poke the ball home.
Rosyth continued to bring the play to Newburgh who defended well and maintained their lead to the final whistle to earn another three points.
