Newburgh FC was originally founded as Tayside Albion in 1887, a works team from the linoleum factory that once provided employment for 1000 locals.

The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) restructured prior to the 2006–07 season, and Newburgh found themselves in the 12-team East Region, Central Division. They finished 11th in their first season in the division.

Newburgh most recently played in the East Region SJFA South league in season 2019-20 and were sitting in 2nd place when the lockdown for Coronavirus saw the season ended prematurely.

The team have been managed since February 2018 by Scott Hudson with assistants Scott Lawson, Willie Hutchison and Rikki Melville. Newburgh FC General Manager is Liam Baillie, our club physio is Heather Chalmers and our kit man is Andy Weir who also sits on the committee. The club has a healthy committee membership of 16 local individuals.

In April 2020, Newburgh FC’s application to join the East of Scotland Football League within the senior pyramid was approved at the association AGM. Newburgh will join all of the former Fife Junior football clubs in the league from season 2020-21 onwards.
