Upcoming fixtures

Newburgh have two fixtures before the Christmas break starting this weekend the 10th of December when Kinnoull are the visitors to East Shore Park

Ex ‘Burgh manager Alan Cameron is in charge at Kinnoull and will be looking to consolidate his teams current table topping position.

The following week we are on our travels to Forfar when we head North to face Forfar Albion.

Finally after the Christmas break Newburgh look forward to welcoming Blairgowrie to open up the 2017 football calendar in Newburgh on Saturday the 7th of January.

Further fixtures announced

In addition to this Saturdays trip to Blairgowrie Newburgh have the following upcoming fixtures

Saturday 16th April Blairgowrie v Newburgh ko 14:30
Saturday 23rd April Newburgh v Arbroath Vics ko 14:30
Wednesday 27th April Coupar Angus v Newburgh ko 18:45
Saturday 30th April Newburgh v Brechin Vics ko 14:30

April is going to be a busy month for the ‘Burgh!

This weekends fixture

Newburgh travel to joint league leaders Blairgowrie this coming Saturday.
Davie Park has been a happy hunting ground for Newburgh since the North League was formed with the ‘Burgh winning both fixtures in the last 2 seasons.

The reverse fixture earlier this season
finished a 4-4 draw. These are the only points that Blair have failed to take in their travels this season so far.
This is always an exciting game so why not give the ‘Burgh your backing at Blairgowrie this Saturday – kick off is at 14:30 see you all there!

Newburgh 4 Blairgowrie 4

In a game that had everything a scoring draw was probably a fair result
2 first half penalties and a sending off for both teams left the score at 1-1 at the break
Newburgh made a fantastic start to the 2nd period taking the lead almost right from the kick off.
Blairgowrie were not going to lie down however and soon equalised to make the game all square again 10 minutes into the second half.
Newburgh retook the lead midway through the half only to concede two goals in quick succession falling behind 4-3.
A superb 4th goal for Newburgh with 10 minutes remaining ensured a share of the points.
Newburgh travel to Arbroath Vic’s next Saturday.

Predictions – the aftermath…

McBookie

Didn’t do too well with the scores – but

Downfield 3 v Blairgowrie 0

Top of the table clash at Downfield’s ground where they have only lost one game (3-4 to Newburgh). A difficult game to call as Blairgowrie have been on a really good run recently. Blair still have to lose away from home but I fancy Downfield may just break that record with an odd goal win 3-2 for me

CORRECT!

Kennoway Star Hearts 2 v Lochore Welfare 3

KSH have had a poor start to this season in comparison to last year and are mid table having been one of the bookies favourites for the league title. They face a Lochore side who will be out to impress the new management team of Dair & Cuisick. Another close game but I feel the home side will have enough to win 4-1

OOsssh WRONG!

Scone Thistle v Forfar Albion

Forfar Albion certainly shocked Newburgh when they visited a few weeks ago beating us 4-2 but will talisman manager Steven Milne be able to maintain this away to Scone who are going into this game on the back of their superb win against Super League Lochee UTD in the GA Engineering cup. I feel the home side will have the experience in their squad – a 3-1 home win

CORRECT!

Thornton Hibs v Lochee Harp

Two genuine hard working proper junior teams face up in this clash. Thornton have a good squad of players with quality throughout the team but Lochee Harp are always a difficult team to beat, well organised with a great spirit throughout the team. This maybe the shock of the day and I fancy a 1-1 draw.

I’m taking this as a 0-0 – my game my rules!!!
