Bear is back in the ‘Burgh

The goalie is back but not between the sticks this time…. We are looking forward to welcoming Craig “Bear” Houston back to East Shore Park tomorrow.

Bear will be facilitating SQA accredited Mental Health First Aid courses for our squad and coaches.

A fresh faced young Bear joined us in 2011 and played for 4 seasons at the club before moving West to Glasgow.

Everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming Bear back and we are delighted that we have been able to make use of his skills in mental health tuition to the benefit of our current squad. Anyone interested in what Bear is up to follow him on Twitter @Bearinmind1988 or on Instagram Bearinmind88

Pitchside advertising – support your local football team

We are delighted to be able to offer our pitch-side advertising once again this season.

A pitch-side board to your design can be installed around the ground and it will regularly feature in our match day photographs and in the match videos we post on our youtube channel.

Email secretary@newburghfc.co.uk to reserve your space and discuss your board design.

Light at the end of the tunnel

We are all delighted to see some light at the end of the tunnel with the resumption of training this evening. The guidance from the SFA has been received and everything is in place to ensure we comply fully with the advice and direction given at East Shore Park .

We are very conscious that this has been a very difficult time for everyone and agree that shutting down all football was the correct thing to do.

This shut down has however been difficult in differing ways for everyone involved at the football club.

With this in mind we have decided to invest in mental health training for staff and players.

This Saturday we are delighted to have Bearinmind at the club facilitating his Awareness in First Aid for Mental Health SCQF Level 4 courses for over 20 Newburgh FC players and coaches.

Bearinmind is the operating name of Craig Houston’s new venture offering his services as a well-being coach, providing training in mental health, suicide prevention, mindfulness, safeguarding and well-being.

Craig played for Newburgh for several seasons and has a connection to the club so we are delighted to offer his services to our current playing and coaching staff.
