Contract extensions agreed

Newburgh are delighted to have secured contract extensions with two more members of the squad as manager Scott Hudson continues to work behind the scenes.

Ben Scarborough and Jack Hutchison have both agreed extensions to their current contract taking them into season 2020-21 with Newburgh

Both Jack and Ben are products of the successful partnership we forged with Abernehty U19’s and have been regulars in the Newburgh line up this season.

Ben was a much sought after left sided player who flourished under the management team of Willie Hutchison and Pete Robertson at Abernethy U19’s. He suffered an injury that way laid his early season in the final year of youth football but when he did start playing regularly again he looked every bit a junior player. Scott Hudson tracked his progress and was keen to add him to the Newburgh squad this season where Ben has grown into the regular left wing back role. Good in the air, with a magnificent first touch he is a threat going forward and defend well too. Scott Hudson was delighted to have tied Ben down to a longer deal at Newburgh ” left sided players are difficult to come by and one with the all the attributes that Ben has is a real bonus for us. He is a hugely popular member of the squad and works like a trojan at training and during games, I am over the moon to have secured his services long term at the club”.

Jack joined Newburgh on a delayed contract in season 2017-18 and has been a regular in the team since signing, Ben joined us at the start of this season and has really quickly established himself in the team.

Manager Scott Hudson is delighted to have both Jack and Ben commit to Newburgh long term “I am really keen to keep the core of the squad developing together and both Jack and Ben are integral parts of this. These lads both have great attitude and work ethic which make them a real pleasure to work with”

Signing news at East Shore Park

Newburgh manager Scott Hudson has been working hard behind the scenes to secure the services of a number of the squad beyond the end of their current contracts. We are delighted to announce the first contract extensions has been signed by Aidan Edwards

Aidan joined the squad this season from the successful Abernethy U19 squad that we hosted at East Shore Park last season. Aidan has hit the ground running and has shown bags of potential in a Newburgh strip so far this season.

Manager Hudson said “I am delighted to have signed Aidan up on an extended contract. He is a real impact player who can change a game with his direct play”.

Well done to Aidan we look forward to seeing you playing for Newburgh for many years to come!

Next weekends fixture

Newburgh welcome Syngenta to East Shore Park this coming weekend for the second of three home fixtures on the bounce. Let’s hope the park can stand the punishment of three games in a row in December (cheers to the fixture secretary)!

Newburgh have played Syngenta both home and away already this season and have taken maximum points winning the home tie 4 – 1 and the away fixture 3 – 2. Both of these games have been difficult for Newburgh and we will need to be on top form to take points from Syngenta this weekend

Todays’Burgh man of the match

Aidan Edwards was awarded today’s ‘Burgh committee man of the match after the game against Linlithgow Rose CFC.

Aidan chipped in with a first half goal and a superb 2nd half performance when 10 men Newburgh held Linlithgow to a draw having played 64 minutes of the game a man down.

Well done Aidan we look forward to many more MOTM performances this season

Tomorrow’s fixture

Newburgh welcome Linthgow Rose CFC to East Shore Park tomorrow for their first ever visit.

Linlithgow Rose CFC joined the junior ranks this season and have made a solid start to their life in Junior football. Currently 5th in the league Linlithgow are sure to be a difficult team to break down and this looks like being a cracking fixture.
